Background

 

Since 1998 we have been at the forefront of 3D scanning for the Film, TV and Multimedia industries. Until December 2008 our clients knew us as Soho-Cyberscan, part of the Framestore Group. At that time our directors approached Framestore to secure the systems and assets and relaunched as an independent company – 2H3D Ltd.

GUY HAULDREN - FOUNDER & MANAGING DIRECTOR

Guy started his 3D scanning career in 1997 running the UK's first commercial scanning bureau. After two years he left to join Soho-Cyberscan, the scanning department at the post-production facility Framestore in London's West End, to help produce creature models for the award-winning series Walking with Beasts.

 

During the next nine years Guy worked on numerous feature films, long-form TV series and commercials, including the BAFTA award-winning The Giant Claw, Sea Monsters and The Golden Compass, the latter also achieving an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects in 2007, followed by another in 2008 for the Two-Face effects in The Dark Knight.

 

Throughout 2011 and 2012 Guy and 2H3D co-ordinated all scanning for the highly acclaimed World War Z, delivering over 100 final assets to the post-production facilities MPC and Cinesite making it the largest scanning project ever undertaken for a feature film.

Our Story

Apart from our name and independence, little has changed. We maintain the same knowledge base in our staff and thus are still the most experienced 3D scanning operators for Film and TV working in the field today. We have now added new levels of experience and expertise in other areas demonstrating that 3D scanning is not solely the domain of VFX.

 

Times are changing. More powerful computers mean that we can create larger and more complex models, and our clients can utilize more fully the high resolution datasets that we have been producing for over a decade.

Our Vision

Our aim is to provide the highest quality 3D scanning data of real world objects, at any size and any resolution, with or without texture to worldwide clients who appreciate a company that not only knows its own business, but also knows theirs and can thus work sympathetically around their project without disruption to the work-flow.

 

 

Turnaround times are quicker. Prices are lower. We are committed to making 3D scanning more affordable and time-efficient for all productions, regardless of budget.
